About the author
Dr H. F. Morris served for three years as a District Officer in Ankole, and studied the history and the language of the Banyankore. Morris is one of very few British officers who became thoroughly fluent in Runyankore. His profound knowledge of the language made his work in this field easier and enabled him to speak freely and to understand all verbal accounts of past events and history of the period up to 1890, which were given to him by elderly Banyankore who were proud to remember them and to pass them on.
